This album introduced the world to Slave- The Baddest Self-Contained Funk Unit to ever come out of Dayton, Ohio! Playing this album is so refreshing because today, talented musicians are hard to come by. Slide is a stompin' funk jam featuring a nasty,red-hot guitar solo by Mark Drac Hicks and a Bass Solo Sharp Enuff 2 Slice from Mr. Mark Adams. It's truly a classic. You and Meand Love Me are also first-rate funk. The Horn-Flavored Screw Your Wig On Tite would have been a great choice for a 2nd Single. Party Hardy,a potent jam that commands you to get down,is my favorite track. To hear Mark Hicks' electrifying guitar riffs along with Mark Adams' slidin',slappin'& frettin' sounds on bass, is a pure funk experience. This album has that raw and aggressive late 70's funk vibe to it. Slave had been known to STOMP! and they earned that reputation by playing sticky, sweaty, grimy,& gritty funk. But Slave's other classic funk albums should not be overlooked. I own The Hardness of the World, Just a Touch of Love, The Concept, Showtime , Visions of the Lite, Bad Enuff, New Plateau,Unchained At Last, Make Believe and Rebirth on LP- All of them are must-haves! But since most of Slave's output is unavailable on CD or out of print, buying this CD is worth the money!
