Truco & Zaperoko (中文译名暂定为特鲁克和乍佩罗科)，全球最具创造力的乐队之一，主要创作沙撒(salsa)和民俗音乐(folklore)作品，不过寥寥数字并不能完整概括这个乐队，盖其乐手涉猎之广、演艺变化之炫，非三言两语可尽。该乐队的出现，摆脱了乐队讲究门类派别的传统，其创作不但风靡Salsero、Plenero和民俗音乐听众群体，同时亦能给爵士听友带来耳目一新的感受。乐队目前有成员近二十名，既有传统民族器乐演奏家，又有现代电声音乐工程师，称得上是一只自由游走在民族、世界和流行之间的创意团队。乐队经常巡演，唱片在全球43个国家都有销售，其中Música Universal更是获得了2004年格莱美奖最佳Salsa-Merengue提名。========


Truco & Zaperoko is one of the most innovative and creative bands in both salsa and folklore environment. To limit this band′s concept to just one niche is virtually impossible due to the versatility of its musicians and the variety of their renditions as well. Truco & Zaperoko breaks away from the traditional classification of bands because its performance pleases salseros, pleneros, folklore lovers and must refine jazz fan as well.========
This band has performed at the best bomba y plena festivals; nevertheless, it is the only group the bomba y plena milieu that has been invited in two separate occasions to perform at the Puerto Rico Salsa CongressNoches Bailables, which are zealously reserved for Salsa Clasica bands. Not withstanding, given the success of salsa selections such as El Cuarto de Tula, En el Café, No se lo que paso, Me Fascina, among many more, the public has shown a peerless acceptance for Truco & Zaperoko in the salsa environment. This is true to the extent that Musica Universal received a nomination for the best Salsa-Merengue categoryin the 2004 Grammy Awards among the musical production of salsa greats such as Celia Cruz, Victor Manuelle, La India, Ismael Miranda and Tito Rojas. Thus, Truco & Zaperoko has become the first group that includes folkloric Puerto Rican rhythms to be nominated for a Salsa Grammy Award.========
An electrifying fusion of rhythms is produced  when the plena tradition of Héctor Valentíns  Pleneros del Truco and the musical arrangements of Edwin Felicianos Zaperoko- which are filled with salsa, rhumba, and songo with accents of jazz- are combined. An element crucial to this flavorful fusion lies in the childhood roots of this groups co-leaders Feliciano, Valentín and percussionist Miguel Maysonet. Raised in small coastal towns in the north-eastern zone of Puerto Rico- Valentín and Maysonet are fron Catao and Feliciano from Luquillo- these excellent experienced musicians have been seasoned with the spicy kind of flavor unique to small Caribbean towns and an early immersion rhumba and plena genres both of which  are conjoined in their musical-legacy. This fusion has created a new trend in music that many salsa and plena bands as well are beginning to incorporate in their repertoires. Selections such as Brilla el Sol, Miedo y Terror have become examples for a new generation of musicians that are beginning now to add to their music the polyrhythmic patterns masterfully developed by Truco & Zaperoko. This is so to the extent that Gilberto Santarrosa, one of the most prestigious and transcendental figures in latin music, in his production entitled Auténtico included the selection Lo que Arrasó for which producer José M. Lugo invited Edwin Zaperoko Feliciano and the Maysonet brothers to participate in the recording in order to provide the arrangement with the distinct rhumba-plena style of Truco & Zaperoko.========
In a developing world, constantly in search for new alternatives, Truco & Zaperokos futuristic vision of Puerto Rican music has arrived. A group formed with some of the most salient and prestigious musicians from Puerto Rico, Truco & Zaperoko has become a great family from which emanates a beautiful sense of comradeship and brotherhood that shines on the people around them to the point that it can be felt in each one of their performances. Rhythm, flavor, feeling, emotion; a great gamut of musical flavors and colors from the Caribbean tropics, all that is Truco & Zaperoko.========
This groups music is distributed in more than 43 countries around the world- United States, Canada, all of Europe, Asia, Australia, Brasil and Argentina and many more have enjoyed their music which has been included in radio broadcasts and hit lists. Many a critic consider both recordings Fusión Caribea and Musica Universal as a set to be collectors items. Marck Schwartz in his review for Barnes and Noble says like no other band in the world as he extoles  the performance of Truco & Zaperoko. Ben Ratliff (New York Times) after listening to a live performance at Hostos Center for the Arts in the Bronx, NY- pointed out that he was impressed with Música Universal. Paul Thomas from Latin Beat has considered Música Universal as one of the best 2003 albums. Similarly, Javier Antonio Quiones Ortiz JAQO from one of the main jazz magazines Jazz Times includes Música Universal among the 10 best 2003 jazz productions and estates that Musica Universal updates in a very advanced way, the Cuban timba, the son, sub genres of the rhumba family with sections of guajira, immersed in Puerto Rican bomba and plena, showing off-urban street vocal styles, jazzy harmonies, frequent solos, sonorous singularity, polyrhythmic weigh of peerless flavor over which this sentence ends, and even yet it does not describe this badd phat recording. Ernesto Lechner of the New York Post says it is difficult not to smile at the joyful creativity of this Puerto Rican Super group. Arthur Cohen of the prestigious Downbeat jazz magazine points out that Truco & Zaperoko takes on arrangements of legendary themes and turns them into different variations in clear reference to new versions of old but little known selections such as La Anguila and the old classic María Luisa which returns with great energy.========
In Dayton, Ohio, a group of latinos in attendance during a performance at the City Folk Festival shouted joyfully before an eminently North American public Truco & Zaperoko, the Musical Banner of Puerto Rico their faces filled with emotion as they heard their music being performed with all the flavor and cadence of their native land. Undoubtedly, their slogan was accurate since Truco & Zaperoko is the true live representation of the musical identity of Puerto Rico.
