Conductor, composer and pianist Yaron Gottfried is one of the most prominent musicians of his generation in Israel -
a multidisciplinary musician who bridges classical, contemporary and jazz music. Since 2002 he holds the position of Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Nataniya-Kibbutz Orchestra. Under his creative artistic leadership, the orchestra has become one of Israel's leading professional orchestras, packed halls, rave reviews and over 120 concerts in a season.
In 2010 Maestro Gottfried was appointed as General Artistic Director of “Elstein Music & Arts center“ in Zichron Yaacov which will be opened in 2012 In Zichron Yaakov. Yaron graduated his studies at the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem under Maestro Mendi Rodan.
He served for 7 years as professor for conducting and music studies at the “Rimon School for Contemporary Music” and at the "Jerusalem Rubin academy of Music". Maestro Gottfried repertoire is spanning from Baroque music to contemporary works of our time. In 2009/10 he conducted “The Creation“ by Haydn, Porgy & Bess by Gershwin & led an Israeli premiere of “La Clemenza di Tito“ by Mozart.
As an Artistic director he presents an innovative and creative programming concept that brings imaginative, up-to-date ,original and refreshing experience to the stage - classical works alongside folklore and jazz, combinations of different styles, arts, vocals and visual. These programs have constantly earned high praise from critics and audiences alike.
Gottfried is regularly invited to perform with orchestras world wide, His guest conducting appearances include the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Israel symphony Rishon LeZion, Haifa symphony, Jerusalem (IBA) symphony, Budapest concert Orchestra, Duna symphony, Debrecen Philharmonic, New Chamber Orchestra of Potsdam, Brazos Valley symphony, Salta symphony (Argentina), La Crosse symphony, Vancouver symphony & Portland chamber orchestra to name a few. In 2008/9 seasons he gave his debut concert in China, conducting and performing his works at the “Forbidden City concert hall“ with the Beijing Xinkongqi orchestra. Following his success he returned to the FCCH in 2010 season with Uno Orchestra. Future obligations include the Barcelona Symphonic band, Monterrey symphonic Orchestra (Mexico), as well as returning to the FCCH.
Gottfried’s compositions have gained him high regard and acclaim and are regularly performed by orchestras in Israel and worldwide and often broadcasted on radio and television.
His works Catalogue includes Concertos, Symphonic works, Chamber orchestra works, Vocal works, works for Piano, as well as many Arrangements. Recent Performances include the NKIO, IPO, Dortmund Philharmonic, Santa Barbara symphony, Festivals such as “Armonia” and “Villa Celimontana” in Italy, “Vendsyssel“ in Denmark & Israel Festival among others .
His “Baroque Jazz Project” written for a Jazz Trio and Orchestra has being performed over 40 times receiving rave reviews all over the world. The Project was released in a CD at “Play records “. His most recent works are “Time Dimensions” for orchestra, chorus, soprano and computer which was premiered by NIKO, and an original interpretation to Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an exhibition“ written for Jazz trio and Orchestra which was worldly premiered in 2010 at the FCCH.
The I.C.Excellence Foundation selected Maestro Gottfried as its chosen artist for 2003-07. He is a member of the prestigious MacDowell Colony in the USA and 1st prize winner of the young artists conductors competition held by the Israel Philharmonic and the America-Israel Cultural Fund.
Gottfried musical interests in jazz led him to perform with major jazz artists such as Eddie Gomez, Didier Lockwood, Dave Liebman, Ira Sullivan, Randy Brecker, Georgie Fame, Kitty Margolis, Benny Golson, Jimmy Heath and many others.
