Graham Fish and Jeff Musgrave make up the Canadian musical duo, Audiograft. Graham was born in 1984 in Guelph, Ontario. Jeff was born in 1987 in Osaka, Japan, moved to British Columbia, and finally settled in Guelph in 2005. Shortly after meeting in 2006, the pair realized their musical compatibility and potential for creativity and began composing and recording music above Jeff’s uncle’s garage, pausing only when a car drove in.
The turning point for Audiograft came during the writing of “Cement Legs”, which is now the final track on their first album, Melody in the Half-Light. Developed in an afternoon of improvisation, the duo quickly realized their potential for further creative endeavours. The recording of “Cement Legs” on the album retains much of its original sound from those initial improvisations. Similarly, all the pieces for Melody in the Half-Light were specially selected from over 75 original compositions because they captured the sense of exploration and direction developed during Audiograft’s first recording sessions. The desire to improve sound quality, continue pace of productivity, and maintain creative freedom, resulted in the decision to build their own studio, which was accomplished in 2012. What started in Jeff’s uncle’s house has become a full-time passion.
With the completion of both their studio and their first album this year, Audiograft plans to release in the near future more of the music they have been developing. Their next scheduled album, aimed for late 2012, will add vocals and utilize pop structuring. After its completion, they plan to tour, performing tracks from both released albums. The band is also very passionate about cinema and is pursuing film scoring.
