Progressive/Gnostic project from Portugal.
 
Darkside of Innocence can be known as a solemn voyage through the universal consciousness; an introspection that reaches the higher levels of reasoning. It is enlightenment that bestows hence, the self with some awareness regarding its own core - it’s the path eternal of one, seeking to express its inner essence within art.
 
The Heir (Pedro Remiz) spawned this dirge for Sophia therein late 2005.
 
Currently based on a progressive musical approach, the project engages in their allegoric poetry an insight relatively on various issues concerning the collective unconsciousness – the cosmos we share.
 
Finally starting as a musical group in 2007 featuring André Reis (Karetus) as a guitarist and as an important band producer/composer, Pedro Bandeira (Zëro) on drums, João Prim (Burned Blood) on the guitar, Cláudio Melo (Burned Blood, Zygon) on bass, Pedro Antunes (Sinmattic) on live keys and Cátia Marques (Eterna Saudade) on vocals, Darkside of Innocence commenced some studio activity by recording a demo entitled Bloody Mistress, only to be listened via myspace. In 2007/2008 Some live activity takes place but Cláudio Melo, Pedro Antunes and Cátia Marques part ways with the band. João Arcanjo replaces Cláudio on bass.
 
In 2009, João Prim leaves Darkside of Innocence while Sara Henriques (Glitcherry) lends her impressive voice and Paulo Roque joins Darkside of Innocence as guitarist. After 4 years since its beginning, the project records its first full length entitled “Infernum Liberus EST” with the participation of Dmitry Rishko – Dominia’s violinist. A symphonic black metal opus that got trendy worldwide and reached top charts for myspace for a very long time. That social trending also takes the heirs for greater exposition regarding the metal scene and makes them go as live support of bands like Nile, Nagash's Troll (NOR) first europe tour ever, Noctem and Kathaarsys from Spain, Sacred Sin, Witchbreed, Desire, Gwydion, Thee Orakle, Echidna, Ransack, The Godiva. Later in 2010, Darkside of Innocence inked a record deal with the “Grailight Productions”, to release Infernum Liberus EST.
 
As for 2010, Paulo Roque decides to focus on its personal issues and part ways with the band, leaving some space for David Silva to rock some tunes at guitar. Meanwhile The heirs started composing their second full length titled Xenogenesis and Cerberus – a single taken from it - is released throughout the net. The artistic evolution of the band also led Pedro Remiz to create a philosophical movement entitled "Sophia's Heirs" which aims to address through all kinds of art, some cultural biases that affect the human social relations. Still in 2011 as one man band since some crucial members like André Reis, Pedro Bandeira, Sara Henriques and David Silva, decided to part ways with the project to focus on their personal duties, Darkside of Innocence releases "Lux Omega", an EP with classical themes all produced by Pedro Remiz. Later on that year, Darkside of Innocence signs a record deal with "Infektion Records" and releases the most introspetive album ever to be composed by the band, Xenogenesis - the second full-lenght - on 2012.
 
Later on 2012, the project starts to rehearse again with some new brand members. João Arcanjo (Bass) is still on the band, while Cláudia Migueis, Gonçalo Almeida and Armando Miranda Joins the project to compose Sephiroth which would be release on early 2013 as the band first videoclip.
