Seth’s Island is an indie singer-songwriter/alternative band based in Waco, Texas, formed in 2013. The band consists of frontman Seth Findley and producer Tim Arterbury.
It all began when Seth started writing songs in his spare time at the age of fifteen. Living in a musical family, Seth was exposed to many genres of music and soon learned how to craft his own. He would create a musical idea on the guitar or piano and eventually transform it into a song with lyrics drawing off his personal life experiences. As time passed, Seth’s songs would bloom into complete musical arrangements inside of his head and his passion for music flourished. By the age of seventeen Seth had written over twenty songs and he began to wonder what the point of making music was if no one would hear it. 
Later that year, Seth met Tim Arterbury at Midway High through the school’s choir program. Learning how to record and mix music using programs such as Pro Tools, Tim met up with Seth by the advice of a friend to record a couple of Seth’s songs for fun. During the recording session, the two realized the potential of the other in the music creation process and quickly struck up a tight friendship. Both skilled in their specific field of music; Seth in performance and songwriting, Tim in recording and audio engineering; they were able to quickly and easily yield professional sounding tracks. Here, Seth realized that there was a way to get his music out to the public so the two formed the band Seth’s Island. Influenced by artists such as Coldplay, Switchfoot, Future of Forestry, Air Review, Mutemath, Sleeping at Last, and Mumford & Sons, Seth’s Island sought out to create songs with a mix of organic/acoustic and synthetic elements.
Together, Seth and Tim dove into the realm of independent music; releasing their first single “The Search & The Find” in April 2013 with talented singer/songwriter and friend Meredith Wilson. The song climbed to the top 40 songs of the Singer/Songwriter charts in iTunes even holding a spot next to Ed Sheeran’s hit song “The A Team”. Why stop there? Seth and Tim collaborated further and decided to release a full-length album.
Initially pulling together fourteen songs Seth had written, the two began working on Seth’s Island’s debut album Stomping Ground in the summer of 2013. The songs contained in the album, a reflection of Seth’s seventeenth year of life, take listeners through a journey of highs and lows while searching for a home, a place of security, rest, and freedom. Through the process of recording and developing the album, songs were cut and new songs were written, all leading to the final project of thirteen tracks pointing towards Stomping Ground’s central theme of coming home.
Music is the voice of the soul. Seth wants listeners to not solely focus on the sound of his music, but rather on the emotions and meaning conveyed through lyric and musicality. He asks listeners to interpret the poetry for themselves and interact on a personal level with his music.
Seth and Tim are currently working to complete Seth’s Island debut album Stomping Ground set for release on September 30th, 2014.
