For Melbourne based singer/songwriter Ben Riddle it was always a delicate process from a perfectionist at heart. But with only a couple of microphones and a quiet bedroom beside a not so quiet main road, there was musical magic to be made. Over the period of 6 months, Ben has been arduously involved in the self producing and recording of his debut album titled ‘On The Rise’, of which was released by independent distribution label Vitamin records in 2010.
Rooted in folk style melodies, Ben’s clever harmonies add a depth and character to his tunes while retaining an unpretentious and organic authenticity. Falling gently but somewhere between the music that lifts you up with its beauty and then tears you down with its honesty – Ben stitches together the pieces of fabric from a discarded melancholic childhood and reflects on the inevitable and invariable change that time brings. 
There is a peacefulness and an honesty in Ben’s vocal and in his lyrics which calms and comforts its listener, promising all the warmth but somehow reminding us that, as in life, its always slightly out of reach.
For Ben, the recording process is where the songs really come to life. His approach to recording is progressive, spontaneous and constantly expanding with new ideas, melodies and instrumentation. It is layering and building this musical picture for you to hear, complex with multiple harmonies, experimental percussion, and interweaving guitar sections to produce somewhat of a journey in each song.
Following a successful sell out show for the launch of his second EP The Bright Side and his debut album Ben is set for a European tour during October, playing Germany, France and Eastern European cities. 
Ben Riddle is an example of an artist moving forward and establishing the groundwork for a lasting career. On The Rise is the debut of this lineage of songs destined to hear from this aspiring young artist.
